July 17

Another gorgeous day.  Walked to the reversing falls park and overlook, then found fast internet at the City Market.  Something like the Reading Terminal Market but much smaller.

At the Bay of Fundy, the tides are like nowhere on earth.  As one hundred billion tons of water pours into the Bay of Fundy from the Atlantic Ocean-equal to all the water that flows in every river on earth in 24 hours-the water level in the bay rises 4 stories!

Another day in New York

First, we visited the 9/11 memorial. The footprints of the two towers are now sunken waterfalls with the inscriptions of the people whose lives were lost on September 11, 2001. Very moving.

We visited the tenement museum on the lower East side, a fascinating history of immigration in NY. Well worth the visit.

We also walked the high line which was really beautiful. Wall in all our day in NY included 14 miles of walking.

Boston

Boston, July 15We were hoping to see the famous tower of snow-the snow that accumulated to 75 feet over the winter- but it finally melted yesterday, revealing 80 tons of garbage that got swept up with snow removal after the massive snowstorms! The mayor sponsored a contest for who would guess when it would melt – winner was to be announced today.

So, instead, with our sons, Adam and Mark, we had a wonderful day in Boston. We visited the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, which was amazing. I have always wanted to see it. No pictures were allowed in the galleries, but the courtyard was beautiful.

After lunch we finished the day at the Harpoon Brewery and were joined by Ramsay.

Sailing for Bar Harbor.

The wifi on the ship is incredibly slow (remember dial up??), so pictures may be posted later while in port…probably at Starbucks.

Excitement in NY

Loved the show yesterday.image

A bonus was that we saw Ken Watanabe’s last performance and Michelle Obama and her mother were seated 4 rows in front of us!

Explored the 9/11 memorial this AM.  Explanation and more pics to follow.

Sailed into New York harbor one hour early today, July 12.

Beautiful view of the Verazzano bridge and then we sailed under it.  Passed the Statue of Liberty and then on to our pier at 50th and 12th.

In Lincoln Center to see the King and I!

Tomorrow we will go to the 9/11 memorial, the tenement museum and walk the high line.
