When we first told our sons that we were planning a World Cruise, Mark said “Nothing says World Cruise like Norfolk, Virginia!” 😬. So here we are at sea on our way there.

A few ship facts:

There are 684 passengers on the ship from 26 countries and we heard that 88 are on the whole world cruise. At the Cruise Critic get together today, we heard from people who post on that site and are on this trip. Some are doing the whole trip, others on the segment to Montreal, some to Southampton, some to Barcelona, some to Dubai. There are also 4 people who got on in Singapore and will be doing 203 days. This is because the ship had a fire in December that delayed the start of the cruise that was to begin in January until late March. iIt began in Singapore instead of Miami, so some passengers opted to join then and stay till it reached Singapore again.

There are 402 crew members from all around the world, 42 nationalities. All are wonderful and cannot do enough for you.

The spa and fitness center are run by Canyon Ranch. They are state of the art with trainers, massage therapists, etc. I am counting on them to do a great job with my hair in 3 weeks time. Watch for pictures!

A day at sea found Norm taking bridge lessons, Pat in a zen doodle art class, Norm in the gym, Pat doing the 4 mile around the fitness track. There are many things to do including photography classes, fitness and spa seminars, line dance classes, and much more. Nice for the sea days, the rest of the time we will be out touring.

The food is really wonderful. Today they were making fresh pasta and made to order porcini risotto at lunch. I had the usual wonderful salad, but did sample the risotto. I can tell I will be well spoiled by the time we come home.

We are loving the string quartet after dinner.
